Nearly 44 million people in West Bengal are expected to receive piped natural gas (PNG) supply in coming years.

The city gas distribution project (CGD) will utlilise GAIL (India) Limited’s Jagdishpur- Haldia- Bokaro- Dhamra Pipeline and Barauni Guwahati Pipeline to supply PNG/ compressed natural gas (CNG) for domestic, commercial and industrial use.

Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline and Barauni-Guwahati Pipeline covers 10 districts of south Bengal and five districts of North Bengal, respectively. 

The number of proposed in West Bengal is CNG stations is 530 and PNG connections is 3.2 million.
