Union Government approves setting up of 40 biogas plants

In a recent development, the Union Government has approved setting up of 40 wet waste to biogas plants at an estimated cost of more than 10 billion with cumulative waste disposal capacity of 6,213 tonnes per day (tpd).

The plants will be set up under the Gobardhan Yojana which entails establishment of 500 such biogas plants of which 75 are to be set up in urban areas.
