GAIL Gas is set to open up two new CNG stations in Dhanbad by November end. The first CNG station, which is co-located with Gupta Petroleum, an outlet of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is almost complete. The second CNG station will be co-located with Aditya Multicom of HPCL at Barwaddah Topchanchi road. It is also in advance stage of development. CNG will be available for three wheelers and four wheelers initially. It will gradually be available for all vehicles with the installation of more stations.

Meanwhile, pipeline installation for home delivery of natural gas is also under progress in colonies of Dhanbad including at Koylangar colony of BCCL Colony, Jamadoba and Digwadih Colony. It will be available in the first quarter of 2021.

As per the 9th bidding of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, GAIL India has been authorised for natural gas supply in 7,002 km2 area of Dhanbad and Giridih district. It plans on setting up a total of 15 CNG stations and connecting 51,000 households through natural gas supply in the future.
