Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is planning to tie-up with Mahindra Powerol to offer electric vehicle (EV) swapping facility at its retail outlets in the National Capital Region (NCR). As reported, IGL will scale up to 100 EV charging stations within a year through this tie-up.

The details of the tie-up are still being worked on. As per IGL, the major challenge that battery swapping business faces is the lack of standardisation. The business would pick up if the Bureau of Indian Standards comes up with a set of specifications for batteries.

IGL had earlier planned to put up such stations across its network with every new outlet having one EV charging point, however the plan could not materialise.
