In a notable development, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) has signed a five-year agreement with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supply.

As per the agreement, BPCL would supply around 0.43 million metric standard cubic meters per day (mmscmd) RLNG from its Kochi terminal to MRPL’s Mangaluru refinery and petrochemical complex.

MRPL would utilise RLNG as feedstock for producing hydrogen and as fuel for gas turbines to produce power, steam and heat for various furnaces. The company is planning to substitute naphtha, diesel and fuel oil with RLNG in its operations.
