Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Heavy Water Board (HWB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for supply of natural gas in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu through the city gas distribution (CGD) network on December 4, 2023.
The fulfillment of both domestic needs and exports is anticipated through the supply via the CGD network and HWB’s arrangement with Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Limited (SPIC) Fertilisers for synthesis gas.
Besides, the plant is likely to be commissioned by June 2024.
The heavy water plants use ammonia hydrogen mono-thermal exchange processes for the production of nuclear grade heavy water.
