Oil India Limited (OIL) and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of a compressed biogas plant at Sibsagar, Assam.

The MoU envisages collaborative efforts of both the entities for setting up the plant including land lease and other agreements, technical and administrative works, research and development initiatives, among others.

Besides, this initiative aligns with the sustainable alternative towards affordable transportation (SATAT) initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) to equip the country with clean and green energy.

The plant having five tonnes per day (tpd) capacity would utilise cow dung, market waste and municipal solid waste as feedstock for the production of CBG.
