Construction work on medium density polyethylene pipeline for distribution of compressed natural gas (CNG) to domestic units in Kozhikode district of Kerala has begun. The city gas distribution (CGD) project is being implemented Indian Oil-Adani Gas Private Limited. The first phase of the CGD project involves laying of steel pipelines on the 25-km stretch from Ekaruur to Karanthur in Kozhikode.

Under the project, CNG stations under the dealer owned dealer operated model will also be set up in Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. It is expected that four CNG pumps will be established in Kozhikode by February 2021.
