In a notable development, 59 industrial units in Delhi have switched to petroleum natural gas (PNG) in the past 40 days. These units are mainly involved in furnace, boiler, food industry and paint booths. The industrial units in Delhi are being converted to PNG in a bid to curb air pollution due to industrial emissions.
According to Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), of the 1,644 industrial units in the national capital, 1,624 are now using cleaner fuels. For the conversion of the remaining 20 units, DPCC have set a deadline of January 31, 2021 to place PNG pipelines in the industrial areas where these units are situated.
