The construction work on the Okhla bio-CNG plant in Delhi is likely to be completed by September 2024.

Currently, about 50 per cent of the work has been completed.

Municipal Corporation Delhi is executing the project along with Indo Enviro Integrated Solutions Limited. The plant will have the capacity to process 300 tonnes per day (tpd) wet waste to produce bio CNG/ compressed biogas which will further be expanded to 500 tpd. The gas produced will be used as fuel in vehicles and as cooking gas in nearby households. Besides, the plant is being constructed in place of an old 200 tpd composting plant which is now dysfunctional.
