In a notable development, Adani Total Gas Limited (ATGL) has commissioned Phase-I of Barsana compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh.

Phase-I would process around 225 tonnes per day (tpd) agricultural waste and cattle dung as feedstock to produce 10 tpd CBG.

The plant is being set up in three phases. Upon completion of Phase-III, it would process 600 tpd feedstock to produce over 42 tpd CBG and 217 tpd organic fertilizer. It entails an investment of over Rs 2 billion.

ATGL is developing CGD networks to supply PNG to industrial, commercial and domestic customers and CNG to the transport sector in 52 geographical areas (GAs) across the country. Of the 52 GAs, ATGL has been authorised to lay CGD infrastructure in 33 GAs solely while another 19 GAs have been allotted to Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited, a joint venture company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and ATGL, having 50 per cent stake each.
