City gas distribution giant Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has increased the prices of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) for the second time in a week by Rs 4.5 per standard cubic metre and Rs 5 per kg, respectively. Prior to this move, MGL has reduced the price of PNG by Rs 3.5 after the government cut value-added tax, whereas the price of CNG was reduced by Rs 6 per kg. It is worth noting that the price of CNG has now increased by Rs 12 within a period of two weeks, with the cost of re-gasified liquified natural gas also at historically high levels.
