With a two-fold rise in the domestic gas prices from April 1, 2022, the Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has raised compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) prices in Delhi-National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR) by almost 4 per cent and more than 10 per cent, respectively. The CNG price was raised by Rs 2.50 per kg to Rs 71.61 while the PNG rate was raised Rs 4.25 per unit to Rs 45.86 in the region. It is worth noting that the hikes are marginally higher in the neighbouring townships due to the incremental impact of higher value-added tax rates charged in the respective states. Furthermore, costlier CNG in NCR is capable of having an impact on the prices of daily staples, especially vegetables and condiments.
