Gas supply in Guwahati is likely to commence by December 2023 via Barauni-Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline. It would link the state of Assam with the National Gas Grid.
Barauni-Guwahati Natural Gas Pipeline, being developed by GAIL (India) Limited under the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga (PMUG) project, involves laying of 729 km long natural gas pipeline between Barauni and Guwahati in the states of Bihar and Assam, respectively, which will link the north-eastern part of the country with the national grid to meet increasing fuel needs of households and factories in the region.
