The construction work on compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Brahmapuram is likely to commence soon. Currently, the tender process for the project is being finalised.

Earlier, the Kochi Municipal Corporation had allocated 10 acres of land for setting up the plant.

The project includes construction of CBG plant to convert 150 tonnes per day (tpd) organic waste into biogas. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will be provided with the necessary land, water and electricity to lay pipelines for setting up the plant to convert organic waste into compressed biogas. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 750-Rs 800 million.
