In a notable development, the union government has laid the foundation stone for gas network in Godda- Dumka geographical area (GA), Jharkhand.
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) gas network spread across 14,507 square km entailing an investment of Rs 17.5 billion, is likely to connect over 1.4 million households with gas supply in Godda, Dumka, Poriyahat, Shikaripara, Jarmundi, Mahagama, Pathargama, Jamtara, Mihijam, Pakur, Litipara, and Sahibganj. The network comprises 370 km of steel pipelines and extensive coverage of medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) pipelines. Additionally, HPCL is planning to set up compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the GA.
Besides, it has also inaugurated piped natural gas (PNG) under Deoghar city gas distribution (CGD) project.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) PNG project spans three districts across 6,264 square km, catering to over 0.6 million households. It is likely to provide PNG connectivity to around 30,000 families by 2027 facilitated by the installation of 350 km MDPE pipeline network at an investment of Rs 3.03 billion.
