In a notable development, Government of Uttar Pradesh has inaugurated a green hydrogen plant in Gorakhpur. The plant was set up by Torrent Gas and has a production capacity of 72 tonnes per annum (tpa).
Besides, Torrent Gas is planning to blend the green hydrogen produced at this plant with natural gas from its city gas distribution (CGD) network in Gorakhpur, with a blending concentration of up to 2 per cent. This green hydrogen-natural gas blend will be supplied to domestic households, compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, and industries in the area through the existing natural gas pipeline network.
