The Government of Arunachal Pradesh (GoAP) has inaugurated a 30 cubic metre (CuM) biogas plant at the Central Cattle Breeding Farm (CCBF) in Nirjuli near Itanagar.
The plant, consisting of two 15 CuM units, was developed under the Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary and Dairy Development in collaboration with the Arunachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency (APEDA). The facility would process around 5-6 quintals of cow dung produced daily to produce biogas for cooking and lighting. Besides, the plant also produces nutrient-rich slurry for use as manure.
