City gas distribution (CGD) companies in Rajasthan have been directed to provide domestic piped natural gas (DPNG) connections to around 43,000 households by the end of June 2026. Areas that currently have DPNG infrastructure would be prioritised, in order to convert LPG cylinders to piped connections. The move is in line with targets by both the centre and the state to create LPG-free zones and promote piped gas connectivity. The state currently has 490 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations, 1,380 commercial and industrial gas connections, and over 153,000 DPNG connections.
