In January 2022, natural gas production in the country reached 2,861.09 million metric standard cubic meters (mmscm), witnessing a growth of 12.17 per cent as compared to the output during the corresponding month of last year. In addition to this, natural gas production by private/joint venture companies in production sharing contract/revenue sharing contract/coal bed methane regime during January 2022 stood at 878.76 mmscm, 85.78 per cent higher than production in January 2021.
As per recently released data by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the cumulative natural gas production during April-January 2021-22 stood at 28,535 MMSCM, 20.5 per cent higher than the amount produced during the corresponding period last year.
