Extending the city gas distribution to three more districts in the state, Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board approved Shola Gasco Limited for gas distribution in Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta districts of Kerala. The project aims to bring natural gas to homes directly instead of relying on liquefied petroleum gas cylinders. The consortium of Indian Oil Corporation Limited – Adani is tasked with supplying gas in northern part of Kerala whereas the Atlantic, Gulf and Pacific Company in the southern part. As of now, 11 compressed natural gas (CNG) pumps have commenced in Ernakulam city and the work is progressing fast in the city as well as the northern districts. In addition to this, as many as 23 LCNGs will be ready by March 2022 in the southern districts, with six installed at present.
