In a notable development, India’s first-ever diesel tractor, converted to compressed natural gas (CNG) will be launched by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The conversion was carried out jointly by Rawmatt Techno Solutions and Tomasetto Achille India. The tractor is expected to be beneficial for the farmers as it will help save them more than Rs 100,000 annually on fuel costs.

The CNG tractor is highly economical as it has zero lead and is non-corrosive, non-dilutive and non-contaminating, which helps in increasing the life of the engine. Moreover, the retrofitted tractor produces more power/equal in comparison to diesel-run engines.
