Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) has traded 5.8 million metric British thermal units (mmBtu) of natural gas in September 2025. It increased by 88 per cent as compared to September 2024.
Besides, there were 176 trades carried out in September 2025 comprising 51 intraday contracts, 41 daily contracts, 35 monthly contracts, 30 day-ahead, 10 fortnightly and 9 weekly contracts.
Additionally, the country’s Gas Index of India (GIXI) has witnessed 9 per cent decrease to USD 11.8 per mmBtu in September 2025, as compared to September 2025. However, GIXI recorded increase of 3 per cent as compared to August 2025.
IGX stands as the country’s first automated national-level gas exchange designed for the physical delivery of natural gas. Currently, it facilitates trades across 21 delivery locations including six liquified natural gas (LNG) terminals, three pipeline interconnection points and twelve domestic gas field landfall sites.
