Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has reduced the price of its piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) in Delhi and adjoining cities, with effect from October 4, 2020. The cut in price is a result of the price reduction of domestically produced natural gas. It has been cut to USD1.79 per million British thermal unit for the October 2020- March 2021 period. This is the third reduction in prices in a span of one year.
Reportedly, IGL has reduced the price of CNG Rs 1.53 per kg in Delhi and by Rs 1.70 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. The new price of CNG in Delhi is Rs 42.70 per kg and Rs 48.38 per kg in Noida, Greater Noida & Ghaziabad. The revised CNG price in Muzaffarnagar is Rs 56.55 per kg, in Karnal & Kaithal is Rs 50.68 per kg, in Rewari & Gurugram is Rs 53.40 per kg and in district Kanpur is Rs 59.80 per kg.
Meanwhile, the price of PNG in Delhi, Karnal and Rewari has been cut by Rs 1.05 making it Rs 27.50 per scm in Delhi and Rs 27.55 per scm in Karnal and Rewari. Further, the price of PNG in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad is reduced by one rupee, making it Rs 27.45 per scm. The revised PNG price in Gurugram is Rs 28.20 per scm, and in Muzaffarnagar is Rs 32.75 per scm. IGL supplies PNG to 0.95 million households in Delhi and around 0.5 households in Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Karnal and Rewari.
As per IGL, the revised pricing is expected to help CNG vehicle owners save 62 per cent towards running cost as compared to petrol driven vehicles and 40 per cent in case of diesel running vehicles.
