In a recent development, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has inaugurated compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Mugal Mazra village in Karnal district of Haryana.
It is the first plant of Haryana and Punjab which would channel gas directly into the pipeline. It is likely to produce and channel around 5,000 standard cubic meters per day (scmd) purified natural gas along with the production of organic fertiliser.
It was established under the sustainable alternative towards affordable transportation (SATAT) initiative of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) to equip the country with clean and green energy. In October 2018, MoPNG launched the SATAT initiative in order to establish an ecosystem for production of CBG from waste, biomass and promoting its use along with natural gas.
IGL is an Indian natural gas distribution company that supplies natural gas as cooking and vehicular fuel. Established in 1998, the company operates primarily in Delhi-national capital region (NCR) and its neighbouring cities.
