Gujarat Gas Limited (GGL) further increased prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) for domestic consumers on October 16, 2021. The company revised its CNG and PNG prices for the second time in the last two weeks.

GGL increased CNG prices across Gujarat by Rs 2.68 per kg to Rs 60.78 per kg from Rs 58.10 per kg. The company caters to about 700,000 CNG customers through its network of around 450 CNG stations in Gujarat. Meanwhile, the domestic PNG price has also been increased by Rs 1.35 per standard cubic metre (SCM) to Rs 27.10 per SCM from Rs 25.75 per SCM.

The leading city gas distribution player in the country chose to raise prices for a second time due to the steep increase in the price of domestically produced gas by the central government. The price of domestic gas has increased by 62 per cent to $2.90 per million British thermal units for the period from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.
