Four bio compressed natural gas (CNG) plants are likely to come up at Mawana in Meerut, Budhana and Khatuali in Muzaffarnagar and Gola in Gorakhpur districts of Uttar Pradesh. The plants will have production capacity of 51.2 tonnes per day (tpd). 

Besides, two biodiesel plants and one bio- coal plant with production capacity of 204 kiloliters per day (klpd) and 40 tpd are also planned.

Recently, Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) approved the projects. The plants will be set up under Uttar Pradesh bio energy policy 2022.
