In a major development, Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Limited (EOGEPL) has filled and dispatched the first ever compressed coal bed methane (C-CBM) natural gas cascade truck for Bengal Gas Company’s first compressed natural gas station. The C-CBM natural gas cascade truck was flagged off from EOGEPL’s gas compressor facility, Durgapur.

EOGEPL runs its flagship asset Raniganj East CBM block in West Bengal with 348 wells and has invested in excess of Rs 40 billion in its exploration for commercial development. The block is India’s first CBM project to cross the threshold of 1.0 million cubic metres of gas production. Meanwhile, the GAIL Urja Ganga gas pipeline is also expected to be commissioned next month and become a major source of energy for households and industries in West Bengal.
