As part of Smart City allocation, the piped gas project work in the geographical area of Tumukuru (Mysore) has led to systematic development of gas pipeline infrastructure in the city. The project is considered an efficient system by many for supplying piped natural gas directly to homes, without causing any disruptions in the existing water and other connections. Mysuru is said to have received the piped gas project as part of Smart City allocation with Rs 9 billion as part of methodological spending. With 70 per cent works completed as part of the Smart City initiative, 40 per cent of the gas bills are expected to be reduced on realisation of the project.
