In the 11th round of bidding held by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, the Indian Oil Adani Gas Private Limited bagged the tender for Hubballi-Dharwad. As of February, 2022, more than 19,500 houses have been receiving piped natural gas (PNG) and the project is also being implemented by the Gas Authority of India Limited in Bengaluru as the natural gas is being sourced from the Dhabol-Bengaluru pipeline. In 2021, the PNG network’s length in Hubballi-Dharwad was extended to 323 km. In addition to being a cleaner and safer fuel, the residents have also been spared off the hassle of booking a cylinder as natural gas is being supplied round-the-clock now.
