As part of its plan to reduce air pollution in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has instructed for replacement of public transport buses with compressed natural gas (CNG) and battery-operated vehicles. The instructions were issued at a joint meeting held by the CPCB with Indore Municipal Corporation, transport department, traffic police and other concerned government departments.
The conversion of public transport buses to CNG is part of the Madhya Pradesh Pollution Board’s five-year plan to reduce the PM-10 value of the air in Indore by at least 50 per cent by the year 2025-26.
