Government of Chhattisgarh has approved Chhattisgarh Compressed Biogas (CG-CBG) Policy 2026.

It seeks to convert agricultural residue, municipal solid waste, livestock waste and other organic materials into compressed biogas.

The Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) has been appointed as the nodal agency responsible for implementing the policy. It estimates the state has the potential to produce nearly 5 lakh tonnes of compressed biogas annually by leveraging its available biomass and organic waste resources.

It is aimed at promoting scientific waste management, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, encouraging environmental conservation and increasing the production of bio-fertilisers.
