Several city gas distribution (CGD) companies have announced incentives to encourage consumers to switch to piped natural gas (PNG).

Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) is offering domestic consumers free gas worth Rs 500 on taking a PNG connection before March 31. Besides, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has announced a waiver of Rs 500 registration charge for domestic consumers and Rs 1-5 lakh security deposit waiver for commercial users. Similar measures have also been introduced by GAIL (India) Limited and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).

Additionally, the Government of India (GoI) has increased waiting times between cylinder bookings from 21 days to 25 days in urban areas and 45 days in rural areas to manage demand and supply. Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) refill bookings have declined to around 50-55 lakh from a peak of 88.8 lakh on March 13. Supply of natural gas to compressed natural gas (CNG) and PNG consumers remains at 100 per cent.
