Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has proposed development of a bio-CNG plant in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The location of the plant is likely to be finalised soon.

The project envisages development of a bio-CNG plant having a capacity of 150 tonnes per day (tpd) on a 10 acres land at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 billion. Besides, the government of Kerala is considering setting up bio-CNG plants in other cities of Kerala including  Kozhikode and Thrissur. Further, the bio-CNG plant at Brahmapuram in Kochi is likely to be completed by December 2024.
