In a notable development, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and Baidyanath LNG Private Limited have formed a joint venture (JV), Mahanagar LNG Private Limited for the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) network across the country.

Under phase-I, the JV plans to establish six LNG stations in Maharashtra which would be further expanded to pan India.

MGL is one of India’s leading natural gas distribution companies. It has a natural gas distribution network in Mumbai and its adjoining areas and is promoted by GAIL (India) Limited. It has around 300 CNG stations, 1,800 dispensing points and provides piped natural gas (PNG) connectivity to 2.05 million households and over 400 small industrial and commercial establishments.
