Reportedly, the country’s domestic natural gas consumption has increased by 6 per cent in November 2023 on year on year (YoY) basis. The surge is assisted by increased supply from domestic fields.
The country’s imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) have witnessed 5 per cent YoY increase. Moreover, while the output from domestic gas fields has increased by 7.6 per cent, the overall domestic production from private sector fields has increased by 26 per cent. Besides, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited’s (ONGC) gas production has fallen by 3.6 per cent in November 2023.
However, during the April- November 2023 period, the country’s gas consumption has increased by 8.5 per cent, LNG imports by 12 per cent and domestic gas production by 5.5 per cent on YoY basis.
