Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is developing a compressed biogas (CBG) plant at Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar to reduce waste load at the city’s Temporary Transfer Station (TTS) and micro composting centres.

The project, being implemented in collaboration with Oil India Limited (OIL), is planned on around 10 acres of land and is expected to process 300 tonnes per day (tpd) waste. The plant is likely to produce around 13 tpd biogas along with organic manure and refuse-derived fuel.

The proposed facility is aimed at improving waste management efficiency, reducing landfill burden and supporting clean energy generation.
