HPCL Biofuels & Renewables Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), is planing to invest about Rs 20 billion in establishing 24 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across the country.

The plants would be established over the next two to three years with production capacity of 10-15 tonnes per day (tpd) CBG each by utilising agricultural residue, cattle dung, sewage water, and other organic waste as feedstock for biogas production.

Besides, HPCL has already commissioned two CBG plants. The initiative is part of the company’s strategic push towards expanding its footprint in the clean and renewable energy segment.
