The Union government has approved the scheme guidelines for Development of Pipeline Infrastructure (DPI) for injecting compressed biogas (CBG) into city gas distribution (CGD) entailing a financial outlay of Rs 9.94 billion during financial year (FY) 2024-25.
It would help achieve full CBG offtake by utilising cost-effective pipeline transportation from production to consumption sites, thereby maximising CBG utilisation.
Some of the key objectives of the scheme includes overcoming financial hurdles in pipeline infrastructure development, establishing strong supply network in CBG producing areas and reducing carbon footprints among others.
