Reportedly, 280,000 households in Bengaluru have opted for piped natural gas (PNG) connections so far. Meanwhile, authorities have developed the infrastructure to connect 168,000 households with PNG. Bengaluru has access to PNG through Dhabol-Bengaluru gas pipeline. It is now supplying gas to 25,000 households.
The newly inaugurated Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline is expected to benefit households, commercial establishments and industries in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada. It will help supply PNG for domestic purposes and compressed natural gas to vehicles in the two districts.
