In a notable development, the Tamil Nadu government inaugurated 25 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and one city gas station set up by Torrent Gas in Chennai and Tiruvallur districts. Torrent Gas now has an extensive network of 214 operational CNG stations across the country and is further planning to increase the number of operational CNG stations to 350 by March 31, 2022 and 500 by March 31, 2023.
Torrent Gas has been authorised by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board for establishing and operating city gas distribution network and providing CNG and piped natural gas in 33 Districts across seven States and one Union Territory. The company is planning to invest around Rs 100 billion over the next five years across India. Meanwhile, it has already invested around Rs 19 billion in the country.
