Tripura Natural Gas Company Limited (TNGCL) is planning to supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) supply in Mizoram by 2028 with the ongoing construction of the Tripura-Mizoram Natural Gas Pipeline under the North-East Natural Gas Pipeline Grid Project..
Currently, the pipeline has achieved about 45 per cent physical progress and is expected to complete by December 2027. Besides, the primary pipeline is expected to reach Sihhmui by March 2027.
The North-East natural gas pipeline grid involves development, operation and maintenance (O&M) of a natural gas pipeline connecting eight states viz. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura at an investment of Rs 100 billion. It is being implemented by IGGL, a joint venture (JV) company of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), GAIL (India) Limited, Oil India Limited (OIL) and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL).
