The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has sanctioned Rs 598.5 million for the establishment of five compressed biogas (CBG) plants across urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state.
Four new plants are to be set up in Rajamahendravaram, Nellore, Guntur and Ongole, each with a processing capacity of 25 tonnes per day (tpd). Besides, an existing CBG plant in Vijayawada would be revived and upgraded to a similar capacity, bringing the total processing capacity across the five ULBs to 125 tpd.
The initiative is being implemented with technical consultancy support from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad.
