The State Government of Maharashtra has directed Nagpur Municipal Commission (NMC) to commission a waste to energy plant to produce renewable energy, bio-CNG, biogas, compost by treating garbage within a year. 

State has cleared the project proposed by SusBDE-Sustainable Business Development. NMC has issued the letter of acceptance (LoA) to the company and agreement is likely to be executed soon. 

If the project comes to pass, NMC will be able to dispose of 1,000 metric tonne of total garbage collected everyday. It entails an investment of Rs 3 billion.
