The Odisha Cabinet approved the Odisha City Gas Distribution (CGD) Policy on April 22, 2026.
The policy targets to fast-track the roll-out of piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) across the state. It eliminates the need for multiple clearances and creates a single, unified framework. A one-time moratorium has been provided on approval fees until March 2027.
The policy is expected to encourage private investment, provide employment opportunities, and facilitate the expansion of the CGD network across more urban centres.
