The Government of Karnataka (GoK) appointed Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) to construct a 300 tonnes biogas plant in Mandur, Karnataka.
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will transfer 18 acres of land to GAIL for a period of 25 years. The BBMP has also been given the task of supplying 300 tonnes of wet waste daily to the plant. The plant is likely to produce around 31.39 metric tons of manure, 10.7 tonnes of bio-CNG, and 180 cubic metre of fermented liquid organic manure daily.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 651 million. The 40 percent of the project cost will be covered by GAIL and the remaining amount will be provided by a bank loan and Rs 82.50 million from the central government’s waste-to-energy program.
