In a recent development, Sistema.bio has launched the world’s largest manufacturing facility for biogas plants at Chakan, Pune, Maharashtra. It plans to install 40,000 biogas units in 2023-24 in India and intends to double it the next year.

Sistema has invested Rs 150 million in the plant and capacity improvement will be undertaken through automation. The facility has an annual production capacity of 100,000 pre-fabricated biogas plants, wherein bio-digesters have turned out to be easier to install, more economical and long-lasting compared to the civil construction-based biogas plants. Moreover, the magnitude makes it suitable for the needs of small farmers, as well as large dairies and food companies.

It had received approval from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy to participate in the National Bioenergy program and was allocated Rs 1 billion under the same.
