The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has sought views/comments on the draft amendments in the procedure for development of technical standards and specifications including safety standards regulations, 2009.

The last date for the submission of views/comments is October 29, 2020. Further, in order to finalise these regulations, PNGRB would conduct an open house meeting with the concerned entities and other stakeholders, including those who have submitted their comments, on November 3, 2020.

Accordingly, PNGRB has invited proposal from the interested parties for formulation of a standard or updating/amending/cancelling an existing standard in activities relating to petroleum, petroleum products and natural gas. It also includes the construction and operation of pipeline and infrastructure projects related to downstream petroleum and natural gas sector. However, the board, on its own, may also decide to develop/update/amend/cancel an established amendment. Thereafter, the work of formulation of new standards and modification and revision of existing standards will be undertaken by the board itself or through its technical committee. Meanwhile, all the standards developed will be reviewed periodically by PNGRB in five years.
