The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has released its Action Plan 2026–27, mentioning key initiatives to strengthen India’s petroleum and natural gas sector through regulatory reforms, infrastructure expansion, market development, and digitalisation.
The plan envisages expansion of natural gas infrastructure through strategic gas storage, Compresses Bio Gas (CBG) pipeline connectivity, Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) terminal registration, City Gas Distribution (CGD)-to-CGD connectivity, and the development of a National Product Pipeline Grid. It also proposes gas market reforms, including CBG and LNG trading, implementation of the One Nation, One Tariff framework, and digital tariff determination.
PNGRB is planning to introduce a digital consumer grievance portal, strengthen safety and supply security regulations, develop a Renewable Gas Certificate framework, review key regulations across the CGD, Natural Gas Pipeline (NGPL) and Petroleum and Petroleum Product Pipeline (PPPL) segments, and establish a regulatory framework for hydrogen transportation through pipelines.
