The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) is planning to expand piped natural gas (PNG) connections to 78.5 million across 11 states to meet the national target of 126.3 million connections by 2034. These includePunjab, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan. Besides, these states have notified their city gas distribution (CGD) policies.
It is also aiming to increase compressed natural gas (CNG) stations to 18,336 by 2034. 10,131 out of these 18,336 CNG stations have been assigned as the minimum target for these 11 states.
